She resides in Morton Bay, extending south towards the Gold Coast. Dolphin Research Australia first encountered Muppet in December 2010. Since then, researchers have frequently observed her during their surveys.

Muppet is easily identifiable due to the significant notch on the trailing edge of her dorsal fin. She has a remarkable story, having survived a shark attack in her past. This incident left her with notable scars on her upper body. Additionally, Dolphin Research Australia is aware that she has survived multiple boat collisions in the busy waterways of the Gold Coast.

Muppet's Community and Lifestyle

Muppet is a key member of the Southern Morton Bay resident community. This group typically consists of around 40 to 55 adult females. Muppet is often seen feeding in the mangroves and channels of this area. She primarily seeks bottom-dwelling fish, showcasing her adaptability.

The bonds within this community are strong. Members support one another in locating food and caring for their young. It's a network built on trust and cooperation, which is vital for their survival.

A New Chapter: Muppet and Her Calf

In 2024, Dolphin Research Australia spotted Muppet with her new calf. This marks the second calf they have recorded her with. Muppet's role is significant in her small community. Her offspring will rely on her for at least the first four years of their lives. Muppet and her calf are frequently observed feeding, resting, and socializing around Peel Island in Southern Morton Bay.
